PROOF TILE VIEW REDESIGN

Workgroups DaVinci Pro

Workgroups DaVinci Pro is a Project Management Software. I was the only designer at Workgroups DaVinci and was responsible for the entire design process. This design was my own idea.

THE PROBLEM

Users had no way to organize their proof files. As a solution, a user story was created for proof folders. As I thought through the idea of proof folders and did some research - I realized that the files should be the same size, if not smaller, than the folder they are being put into. This is the way it works in real life, as well as in typical UI, such as apple's desktop - so I wanted to implement this into my design. This highlighted another existing problem - the proof tiles were huge and were not a good use of space. Users were only able to see a handful of proofs within the view height before having to scroll.

MY SOLUTION

I brainstormed ideas for a way to make the proof tiles smaller without changing the size of the proof thumbnail or removing any important information from the tiles. The solution I came up with was a design where most proof details would be hidden on default with an arrow on each tile to expand the details. Users can also use the toggle in the upper right hand corner to expand all proofs. I moved the version number to added in the top left corner of the proof thumbnails. I also added the ability for users to star proofs so they would be easily accessible through the starred sidebar.
